Biography

Matt-Allen---Feehan.jpg

Matt Allen was an explosive and powerful force in Bishop Feehan’s backfield, embodying the grit and heart of the Shamrocks during their 2012 Super Bowl championship season. At 5’7” and 152lbs he was known for his decisive, downhill running style, he combined exceptional patience, vision, and power to become one of the most productive backs in Shamrock history. His one-cut ability thrived in Feehan’s blocking scheme, allowing him to turn seemingly routine plays into big gains.

Matt had a spectacular senior season where he dominated the ground game, amassing over 1,200 rushing yards and an impressive 17 touchdowns on 154 carries, averaging over 7 yards per carry. His efforts were instrumental in propelling the Shamrocks to a 10–2 record and an offense that averaged more than 28 points per game. Beyond his successes on the ground, Matt also proved his value on special teams, leading the Eastern Athletic Conference (EAC) with 38 extra points and displaying his elusiveness as a kick returner.

When the stakes were highest, Matt delivered. In a winner-take-all regular season battle against undefeated Somerset Berkley for the EAC title, Matt stepped up. With the Shamrocks trailing 7–6 at the half, he scored two clutch, fourth-quarter touchdowns to secure a 24–7 victory, clinching the conference title and a postseason berth. His postseason play was just as impressive, as he exploded for three first-half touchdowns against Dighton-Rehoboth, including scoring runs of 9, 39, and 53 yards, finishing with 189 rushing yards in a decisive 49–7 victory. This performance advanced the Shamrocks to the Super Bowl, where they defeated Lynnfield 21–7 at Gillette Stadium to secure the seventh Super Bowl title for the Bishop Feehan program.

Matt credits his Pop Warner coach, Coach McEvoy, with teaching him the values of hard work and winning at an early age, lessons that followed him throughout life.

For his efforts, Matt was named a two-time Sun Chronicle All-Star (2011, 2012), a two- time EAC All-Star (2011, 2012), and was selected to the Boston Herald All-Scholastics Team in 2012. After graduating, he played lacrosse at Springfield College, earned a degree in Business, and now resides in Fairfax, Virginia, working as an Account Executive at Armis. Matt now joins fellow teammates Mitch Martin (2023) and Matt Glebus (2024) in the Hall of Fame.
