Biography

Chris Rushlow was an unselfish, talented two-way starter and co-captain for Coach Raymond Beaupre's final team. His fondest memories are of big wins over Xavarian at Community Field and against archrivals Bishop Feehan and Foxboro, playing in the 75th Anniversary Thanksgiving Game versus Attleboro, and participating in a Super Bowl as a junior. Offensively, this consummate team player excelled at split end as a junior but was switched to halfback for his senior year, where he teamed with classmates Jason Gomes and Chris O'Brien to lead North's prominent ground attack. On North's first play from scrimmage at Foxboro, Chris scampered 80 yards on a counter right to ignite an offensive outburst that led to North's 42-26 victory. For his two-year varsity career, the versatile Rushlow netted nearly 1,400 all-purpose yards and 15 TDs rushing, receiving, and returning kickoffs and punts.

Defensively, Chris was a solid defensive back who was equally adept covering the opponent's speediest receiver and making a sure tackle versus the run. He accumulated 60 tackles, 9 assists and 5 interceptions during his career. The humble Rushlow quietly did his job without much fanfare, saving his best plays for big games. His signature play was a spectacular one-handed interception late in his senior year against Attleboro. However, the post season saw Chris recognized for his many contributions to North's success. He was selected by his teammates as North's Offensive MVP and by his coaches as the recipient of the Raymond Beaupre Award for Loyalty, Toughness and Discipline. He was also selected the the Sun Chronicle and the Hockomock League All-Star teams, as well as the prestigious Boston Herald All Scholastic Team.
