Kevin Richman

Kevin Richman was a versatile and dependable captain for the Red Rocketeers. As a wing back on offense, he could carry the ball, catch the ball, or set the edge for Big Red’s rushing attack. As a free safety, he had a knack for finding the ball carrier and making timely plays. On special teams, he was sure-handed returning kicks and punts.

As a junior, he was a force in the secondary on a defense that allowed less than 11 points per game in a competitive Hockomock League. This defense held opponents to 42 first half points all season, and on top of that, didn’t allow a single point to be scored in the third quarter of any game. Kevin was in on 37 tackles and logged a QB sack as well.

As a two-way starter in his senior campaign, Kevin’s versatility shined. He carried the ball 49 times, caught 14 passes and executed crucial blocks for fellow Hall of Famer Brett Mastropoll. Defensively, he was in on another 27 tackles and added another QB sack.

Over his carrier, his stats are impressive: over 6 yards per carry, 12.5 yards per catch, 5 touchdowns. He had 58 tackles, another 9 assists and sacked the QB twice from his free safety position. On special teams he returned 22 punts for 215 yards and 7 kicks for 93 yards. He averaged 8.5 yards per touch of the football.

Of all the time spent with his teammates, his greatest memories lie in his senior year, when he was able to play a season on the same team as his younger brother and fellow Hall of Famer, Bobby Richman. He earned Sun Chronicle All-Star and All Hockomock All-Star and earned the Ray Beaupre LTD Award. Kevin went on to school at Westfield State, now resides in Watertown and works for the Middlesex Sherriff’s Department.
