Biography

In the last 50 years, there are few names that are more synonymous with the City of Attleboro and support of its youth than brothers Rusty and Bill Morin. Graduates of Monsignor Coyle High School in Taunton, Russ attended the Cornell University School of Restaurant Management and Bill followed him. Upon graduation, they both served in the United States Army where Russ boxed and Bill played football. After completing their service, they returned to Attleboro to continue a family tradition of restaurant work started by their grandfather in 1911.

Today, “Morin’s Hometown Bar & Grill,” and “Fine Catering by Russell Morin,” are known throughout the New England area and beyond. In fact it could be argued that after their feature in 2010 on the well-known TV series “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” Morin’s Restaurant is known from coast to coast!

Throughout the years, Russ & Bill Morin have provided quiet philanthropic support to many local organizations, among them Bishop Feehan High School, where their 6 children attended school, 4 of whom played football.

In the 90’s when the Feehan football team was trying to rebuild team unity, “Fine Catering by Russell Morin” helped sustain that momentum by providing cost-effective Saturday pre game football breakfasts. In fact, during that time period, Russ’s generosity was extended to underwriting the 50th anniversary celebration for Sister Patricia Harrington, Feehan’s biggest sports enthusiast.

For many years, Bill and his youngest son John, who assists his dad in the family business, have offered their restaurant as a pre-Thanksgiving eve locale for Feehan alumni to celebrate the life of the late Hall of Famer Joe Gazzola ’98. The Morin’s would then donate their proceeds to enhance the scholarship in Joe’s name.

These two examples are but a small sampling of the many generous deeds that have characterized the Morin legacy.

So it is with great pleasure that the Attleboro Area Football Hall of Fame thanks Rusty and Bill Morin for their support of the City of Attleboro and its youth, and welcomes Russ and Bill as 2014 inductees.
