Biography

Frank Marcoccio was an outstanding football player for the Blue & White during his junior and senior seasons. Marcoccio showed toughness and dazzling speed on offense, defense and special teams. On offense, opposing teams needed to defend against Frank's big play capabilities, whether on the ground or through the air. Defensively, Marcoccio scoured the gridiron looking to make the punishing hit or key interception. While on special teams, Frank often provided great field position with his fearless punt returns for Hall of Fame coach, Jim Cassidy's Blue Bombardiers

As a junior in 1964, Marcoccio excelled for the Blue & White team that included Hall of Famers, Al Zito, Dave Hardt, Ken Furtado & Steve Mendes. The hard-nosed Marcoccio had a tremendous game in defeat against Masconomet with a 22 yard touchdown run and an interception. In a decisive, 36-7 victory over Bishop Feehan at Hayward Field in front of more then 3,000 spectators, Marcoccio left his mark on this storied cross town rival series forever with a "spectacular catch in holding onto the ball and remaining in bounds for the TD" while surrounded by a host of Shamrock defenders.

As a senior, Marcoccio led the Bombardier's to a 7-2 record, while capturing the Bristol County League Championship for the first time since 1961. The dependable Marcoccio was part of one of the best Bombardier defenses of all time, allowing just over 6 points per game while holding their opponent scoreless in five out of nine games. During the second game of the 1965 season, the Bombardiers crushed Durfee, 40-8, which was considered the biggest win over the Hilltoppers since 1921. The sure-handed Marcoccio, the Bombardier Co-Captain, caught a 67-yard touchdown pass as Attleboro scored "six touchdowns on only nine plays."

On November 15th, Marcoccio once again torched the Shamrocks by scoring the games only touchdown, a 13-yard "fumbled about" reception. The active and talented Marcoccio also intercepted a Bishop Feehan pass keeping Bishop Feehan out of the end zone and securing the 6-0 victory
