Biography

Coaching high school football involves long hours of hard work many of which are spent in uncomfortable weather conditions. It takes a special dedication to make the commitment and continue year after year. Jeff Grant is one who has made the commitment. For 24 years Jeff has been an assistant coach for the North High football program. He has gone about his job as defensive line Coach and offensive receiver coach in a quiet unassuming way. The success the program has enjoyed over this period of time can b e largely attributed to Jeff.

During Jeffs coaching career he has been a part of 3 Super Bowl Championships, 2 undefeated seasons, a 22 game winning streak, and a winning percentage which approaches 80%. He has seen many of his defensive lineman go on to great success. The most notable being Chris Sullivan who has been a standout at B.C. for four years. On the other side of the ball Coach Grant has turned out many sure handed receivers. Two of the best are now coaches. Mike Redding at Mansfield and one of Jeffs fellow coaches at North, Don Johnson. There are many more outstanding players on both sides of the ball who have benefitted from Jeffs coaching ability, but they are just too numerous to mention.

During his tenure at North Coach Grant has seen the Rocketeers win 184 games. He has had to adopt his coaching skills to three different offenses and numerous defensive changes. These changes have obviously been a big part of North's continuing success. However, the continuity and stability of the coaching staff has been cornerstone of the program.

Jeff Grant represents this continuity and stability. He grew up in North Attleboro and played four years for North in three sports. After attending the University of Vermont he returned home and is still here 24 years later. He exemplifies the tradition and dedication which are synonymous with the North program.
