Biography

roxy_pichi.jpg

"The show must go on," and Roxy Pichi put on that show in his role as one of the founding fathers of Attleboro youth football. As president of Pre-Teen Sports, Incorporated, a non-profit organization composed of local businessmen whose prime purpose was "to help the youth of the community by making them better citizens through sports", Roxy Pichi, along w1th fellow-hall of famer James "Jerry" Heagney, was instrumental in the development of football in the Attleboro area from 1961-1976. "Roxy'· was the prime force in major fund raising activities to defray the cost of financing his three teams, "The Jewelery City Midgets," "The Jewetery City Juniors," and the "Blue Bombers." Resourceful and ambitious, Pichi set the pace with everythmg from cake sale to tag days to (as he put it) "keep the little guys busy and out of trouble." Long time manager of the Union Theater, Pichi never missed an opportunity to promote the cause of the youth of Attleboro.
