Biography

The Red Rocketeer Football Program has been blessed with tough two way performers at the linebacker-fullback positions. None has been more hard nosed than Big Ray Marceau. During the seasons of 1981 and 1982 Marceau was a big part of two very successful Rocketeer Teams, both of which won 9 out of 10 games.

As a junior Ray established himself as a devastating blocker from his fullback position. It was a common occurrence to see Marceau rambling around the comer leading Ted Barrett on the toss sweep.

Ray was at his best when he was on the defensive side of the ball. For two years he was one of the teams leading tacklers. He made it tough for the opposition to establish any kind of an inside rushing game. He controlled the line of scrimmage from tackle to tackle.

In 1982 Marceau was outstanding in a 27-6 victory over Bishop Feehan. The senior linebacker made 7 tackles, assisted on 3 others, intercepted a pass, and recovered a fumble. A few weeks later Ray was in on 8 tackles in less than 3 quarters in a 28-14 victory over Stoughton. That same year he won high praise from the Foxboro Coaching Staff. After North's 28-0 victory over Foxboro, the opposing coach gave ray credit for shutting down his team's running game.

Ray Marceau's senior season was cur short due to a knee injury. However he was recognized for his fine play by being selected as a Sun-Chronicle All Star.
