Biography

Rich Rebelo played a major part of the Bombardier offensive and defensive lines during his junior and senior seasons.  Rebelo’s sound technique and constant effort spearheaded Attleboro’s dominating line play!  As a sophomore in 1992, Rebelo was part of the first Super Bowl team in Attleboro High’s history.  The strong and determined Rebelo excelled from his left tackle position where he opened holes for Hall of Fame running backs Dave Menard, Jesus Duran and Jason Baker when he was not creating time and space for Hall of Fame QBs Tom Sherman & Ted Larkin to throw the ball down field.

During Rebelo’s three contributing season on the gridiron, the Bombardiers were 24-7, a 77% winning percentage, while averaging just under 34pts per game and allowing just over 16pts per game.  In Attleboro’s season opening 41-0 victory over Somerset in 1993, Rebelo opened up holes and passing lanes as the boys in Blue & White totaled 377 of offense.  The instinctive Rebelo also intercepted a pass and returned it 21yards to pay dirt.  Coach Cliff Sherman described Rich Rebelo as “a real smart player”, who “has great technique!”  The dedicated Rebelo practiced like he played on Friday nights or Saturday afternoons – very hard!  The tireless Rebelo led by example on defense, where he was in on 54 tackles (19 solo),  one sack,  and one fumble recovery during his senior season.  On Thanksgiving Day 1994, Rebelo and his offensive line mates controlled the line of scrimmage and clock for 17:59 of the second half securing the 22-8 victory over North at Tozier-Cassidy Field.

Rebelo earned All-EAC and Sun Chronicle All Star honors for his outstanding line play during his senior season.
