Biography

As a 5'8" 160 pound junior in 1993, Tom Sherman assumed the reigns as Attleboro's quarterback. Sherman blended his natural talent, hard work, toughness and football instincts to guide the Blue & White to two of their very best seasons ever, 16 total wins. Tom also excelled in the defensive backfield and had a net punting average of just less than 36 yards as the Bombardier's punter.

As a junior, the determined Sherman established himself as a playmaker & leader! Big Blue's offense averaged over 32 points per game with Sherman barking out the cadence. The strong-armed Sherman completed 51% of his passes with the average reception being greater then 17 yards per catch. In a 41-0 season opening victory over Somerset, Sherman, guided the powerful Bombardier offensive attack with 3 touchdown passes (13,20 & 27 yards) while throwing for 149 yards. In a decisive 49-13 win of EAC rival Dartmouth, Sherman threw 2 more touchdown passes, while showing his defensive prowess by returning an interception 52 yards to paydirt from his free safety perch. As a senior, resembling Doug Flutie, Sherman # 22 was confident, experienced and ready to make some noise. Make noise he did! The accurate Sherman threw for 280 yard and 3 touchdowns as the Bombardiers crushed Franklin 46-12. In a 22-8 "turkey tastes good this year" victory over North, Sherman threw for 143 yards and three touchdown passes including one to fellow Hall of Famer Jesus Duran to get the blue & white on the scoreboard first, and another to Hall of Famer Dan Warchol to cap off the scoring, ending all hopes of North coming back with 3:52 left in the game. For his outstanding play, the mentally tough Sherman was awarded the LG Balfour Trophy for Offensive MVP. After the game Sherman stated, "It's a great win, a great feeling and a great day for the people of Attleboro."

The two-time Pawtucket Times All Star and EAC All Star finished his career with over 1,500 passing yards and (19) touchdown passes. Defensively, Sherman also finished up with 7 career interceptions. After graduating from Stonehill College, Sherman is now employed as an accountant receivable specialist for Wayne J.
