During Nick Raneri’s three years of varsity play, he was a multi-talented athlete who displayed toughness and versatility while contributing to North’s 28-7 record, three Hockomock championships, and one Super Bowl appearance. He was a tough, bruising type of running back, a great blocker who also had great hands that made him a threat in the pass game, and a good passer; in addition, he was a good linebacker and a great leader. Nick also contributed as a punter, and he even blocked one kick.

As a junior, Raneri played a key role as part of a diverse, explosive backfield, along with fellow hall-of-famers Chad Peterson and Brendan McHugh, that helped the Big Red score 382 points. For the season, Nick logged 111 carries for a team second-best 600 yards and 6 TDs, and he was also the team’s third leading receiver with 17 catches for 147 yards and 2 TDs. He had a great overall game against a very strong Tewksbury team in the semifinals that propelled us to the Super Bowl. For his efforts on Thanksgiving Day, Nick was named the Offensive MVP in North’s 14-6 win over Attleboro. Among his favorite memories of the 2017 season were North’s 28-0 playoff victory over Duxbury at Community Field, and playing in the Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium. Nick made a huge play in that game on a double pass when he threw it for a TD in the midst of a great comeback effort.

Senior captain Nick Raneri was both the starting quarterback and linebacker when North christened the newly renovated Beaupre Field with an exciting win over King Philip to start the 2018 campaign. His season total offensive output - 127 rushes, 698 yds and 6 TDs, plus 36 completions for 693 yds and 7 TDS - combined with 26 tackles and 19 assists on defense, helped lead North to its third straight Hockomock League title. In addition to his pride in North’s 265 total points scored and their 8-3 record, Raneri also has fond memories of his 4 TD performance at home against Milford, on his way to earning All Sun Chronicle and Hockomock Lg. All Star honors. He was also a hockomocksports.com top 5 athlete two years in a row.

After graduation, Nick earned his Bachelors Degree from Springfield College in 2023. He had a great career as a four-year member of the football team and served as captain during his senior year. He is currently employed as an outside sales representative at SupplyOne.
